Yui moved to France in 2012 after studying in Osaka, and between 2020 and 2022 she was the first Japanese student to be admitted to the ‘Artist Dipoma’ programme at the CNSMD in Lyon, under the direction of Jean Geoffroy. She created there her first solo musical theatre show, 'Au milieu de', presented at the Détours de Babel Festival.
With a strong stage presence, she expresses her energy through her body, her voice and her instrument. Her expression is varied and rich, spanning a wide range of performing arts. She explores the synergy between instrument and body, as well as the physicality and theatricality of music. Her creations combine improvisation, physical expression and new technologies.
Passionate about sound research and creation, Yui is a member of ensembles specialising in contemporary music: Ensemble Orbis and Collectif LiSiLog.
