Proxima Centauri and the Pau-Béarn-Pyrénées's Conservatory organise "MIXTE-International Academy of Musical Creation"
Edition #2: from 5 to 12 July 2024
MIXTE is a training academy for composers and interpreters who want to discover or develop the practice of mixed music, combining instrumental ensembles and electronic music instruments. Conceived as a laboratory for experimentating, the academy offers a place and a time where musicians surrounded by professionals can meet, listen to each other, share ideas and create together.
MIXTE takes place from 5 to 12 July 2024 in Pau, south west of France. The workshops, masterclasses and public performances will give participants a chance to share ideas, create and meet audience from different venues of the city: conservatory, library, outdoors, etc.
The workshops will be conducted by musicians from Proxima Centauri ensemble and by guest composers. The main things are experimenting both instrumental and computer/electronic practices, and artistic sharings.
For over thirhy years, Proxima Centauri rewrites the codes of chamber music namely by integrating electro-acoustic as a full-fledged member of the formation. For over twenty years
In 2006, Pau's Conservatory becames a departemental conservatory and it is is now a centre for music, dance and theatre. Since 2022, it has been accredited as a Higher Education Centre for Music and Dance.
MIXTE collaborates with the MÀD Festival, which will take place in November 2024 in Bordeaux, France. On this festival, a "young generation" springboard will present world premieres of works selected and supported by the Academy MIXTE.
